Worcestershire County Cricket Club can confirm the signing of experienced seam bowler Oliver Hannon-Dalby on a 14-day loan agreement, effective immediately.
The signing follows circumstances currently affecting Beyers Swanepoel’s arrival in the UK. While the matter continues to be addressed by Beyers’ franchise, the Lions, and Cricket South Africa, the Club has acted swiftly to put alternative arrangements in place ahead of Friday’s Rothesay County Championship Division Two fixture against Derbyshire at The County Ground.
Hannon-Dalby will join the squad ahead of the opening fixture and will be available for selection.
A vastly experienced performer on the domestic circuit, Hannon-Dalby has claimed 392 first-class wickets at an average of just over 28 across an 18-year career. Renowned for his control and ability to generate swing, his career-best figures of 7-46 came against Northamptonshire in September 2023.
Men’s Head Coach Alan Richardson said, “Oliver is a seasoned professional who has performed consistently at the highest level in county cricket for a long time. He possesses one of the strongest skillsets in the domestic game and, just as importantly, is someone of outstanding character who will add a great deal to our group both on and off the field.
“While the circumstances surrounding this move are not ideal, it was important for us to bring in someone who could settle quickly, contribute immediately and provide a genuine threat with the ball in the opening stages of the season.
“It has been a very positive pre-season for the squad and, knowing the standards Oliver sets for himself, I have every confidence he will be ready to play his part ahead of Friday’s fixture at Derbyshire.”
A further update on Beyers Swanepoel’s situation will be provided in due course.
