Fresh off the back of a two-day fixture at Hove earlier this week, a 13-man squad maximised some more vital time in the middle during a two-day contest with Glamorgan, at Kidderminster CC.
Batting first after an uncontested toss, the hosts made 151, with Jake Libby (53*) the starring in some crucial lower order partnerships that effect after a testing start.
Jack Home (3-28) returned the most impressive figures for the home side, with the rest of the wickets shared around as Worcestershire bowled their opponents out for 213.
With rain in and set from mid-afternoon, both sides shook hands and ended the action, with the hosts now readying themselves for Saturday’s assignment away to Warwickshire.
Isaac Mohammed, Dan Lategan and Jake Libby were removed during the early exchanges, with a pitch offering both seam and swing movement providing plenty of challenges for the batting side in the match’s opening session.
Rob Jones and Brett D’Oliveira dug in during a hard-fought hour either side of lunch, but both were eventually dismissed for four, shortly followed by Kashif Ali as Worcestershire stumbled.
Batting for a second time, Isaac joined Libby, with the pair making cautious progress in a 32-run partnership, before the former was well-caught off the bowling of Mason Crane for 13.
The in-form Libby, enjoying a fine start to his 2026 campaign, continued his resolute defence as he battled hard into the afternoon, now with Lategan for company, as they added 36 for the ninth-wicket.
The teenager was trapped LBW for 14 after an encouraging start, before Jones re-entered the fray, watching on as Libby passed 50 before the innings was ended when Jones was dismissed for a breezy 24 from 28 balls.
Libby, ended the innings unbeaten on 53*, in his second not-out score in as many matches, after his 66* away at Sussex on Sunday.
Jack Home, fully fit and raring to go ahead of the new season, hit his straps with the ball, taking three Glamorgan scalps in what was an impressive display from the 19-year-old.
The Worcestershire bowlers were made to work hard for their wickets, as the visiting Division One side retired Asa Tribe, Ben Kellaway, Chris Cooke and Keiran Carlson on their way to 213 all-out.
Ben Gibbon (1-25) had Sean Dickson caught by Libby at short midwicket, before Harry Darley continued his positive recent form by taking the scalp of Colin Ingram for 15.
Adam Finch had Carlson caught out on his first of two appearances in the innings, before Home returned to remove Eddie Byrom and Zain-ul-Hassan as Glamorgan were all-out for 213.
After a brief rain delay, Worcestershire returned to the field to bowl once again, with Ethan Brookes and Matthew Waite the beneficiaries of the extra allocated overs, running in with purpose in their respective five-over spells.
With the game into its dying embers, the forecasted heavy rain fell, and subsequently ended the contest midway through the afternoon session, with Alan Richardson’s side taking plenty of valuable learnings into this weekend’s third and final scheduled pre-season fixture.
The Pears make the short journey to Edgbaston on Saturday, where a select playing squad will go through their final pre-season test against Warwickshire, in a three-day friendly.
