Dan Lategan says his side will continue to fight on despite the fact Worcestershire enter Day Three up against it at Derbyshire.
The teenage opener, who ended the second-day 77 not-out, showed superb resilience on a pitch and in conditions that flattered to deceive in the opening round of the Rothesay County Championship.
Having worked tirelessly with the ball for 140 overs, Worcestershire’s bowling attack collected four more scalps across the second day, before the hosts declared on 625-8, leaving Jake Libby and Dan Lategan to open the batting for the Pears.
A promising opening stand of 81 was broken when vice-captain Libby, was caught for 24, whilst Lategan looked to push on at the top for his side, with the visitors very much up against it.
The Worcestershire pathway graduate showed his class however, batting through the remainder of the day, despite the loss of Kashif Ali (5), to end the day unbeaten on 77.
Lategan, who holds the key for his side heading into day three, said the Pears will continue to press on and build as much pressure as possible at the Central Co-op County Ground.
